Carrollton Ortho Varsity 9/10

On Saturday, September 10th, the XC Raiders traveled to Carrollton, GA, to preview the GHSA course. Only one out of the fourteen runners that went had seen the course before; so, they knew it was important to get their legs and sights on the course! Through the sprinkles spurts of rain, the XC Raiders raced their way along the mentally challenging, tough course. With the hills and all-class Georgia competitive field, the XC Raiders held their own and most did let it falter executing their racing strategy!

Team Race Outcomes

The Varsity Girls’ got the opportunity to begin in a starting line box that would lead them to understanding what it means to “get out quick”. Juniors, Katelyn Rager and Caroline Steiger, led the team coming through the finish line as the first and second runner for Alpharetta. Junior, Irene Archanti and Freshman, Amalia Brady, followed behind, coming through the finish line within 6 seconds of each other. To round out Alpharetta’s scoring five was Junior, Kathryn Fatzyntnz—making her 2022 XC season debut after injury. The Alpharetta’s XC Varsity Girl’s placed 16th out of 28 highly competitive all-class Georgia teams.

The Varsity Boys’ competed strong and focused on running as pack and starting the race quick. The boys attacked the hills and get a solid understanding of what the state course will be like come November. The boys are looking forward to continuing to race and getting better each week.

Next up, the XC Alpharetta Raiders will be racing the Warpath Invitational at one of the runner’s favorite courses, Boling Park. They are looking forward to applying their racing strategy to another three-loop course. For all the returning XC Raiders, they are looking forward to crushing their Boling Park best time this Saturday, September 17th
