Holly Baron

FCS Girls Head Coach

Coach Baron is a fourth year coach with the AHS Cross Country team. She obtained both her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Kennesaw State University. Coach Baron began running in middle school excelling in both cross country and track and has continued running ever since. These days her training consists of running, biking, strength training, and yoga.


Derek Wright

FCS Boys Head Coach

Coach Wright is a first year coach with the AHS Cross Country team. Since the beginning of his teaching career, he has taught in the English department at Alpharetta High School, and he holds a Specialist Degree from Kennesaw State University in English Education. Coach Wright is an avid runner and has completed multiple marathons and 50Ks. He is currently training for multiple a 12-hour races and a 100 miler in September.

Dave Melissas

Community Coach

Coach Melissas is in his ninth year as a community coach at AHS as well as the distance track coach. Previously he coached for 4 years at Lassiter High School and founded the Lassiter Junior Cross Country and Track middle school teams. Prior to that, he spent 3 years as the lead cross country and distance track coach for Walton Youth Track Club. Coach Melissas is a former NCAA Division 1 scholarship athlete at Rider University, where he was cross country team captain and the 1st 12-time varsity letter recipient in the school's history. He ran professionally for and was sponsored by Reebok for 7 years. His 5K personal record is 14:52. Coach Melissas runs every day. His 30+ year streak began on July 20, 1983.
